Senior Fund Accountant | Family Office

The Senior Fund Accountant supports the operational, tax and accounting duties. This position assists with daily operational tasks and monthly accounting duties, which includes reconciling asset positions to custodian statements and outside investment company reports. This position also assists with the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly investment reports, and tax compliance for the two investment partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and monitor daily cash transactions with custodian bank regarding investment income/expenses, partnership cash calls and distributions
  • Record and reconcile asset positions to custodian bank statements and outside investment company reports monthly. Resolves noted discrepancies with the appropriate parties in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecast and monthly close for accounting book
  • Update quarterly accounting support for partner transactions and income and lossallocations by individual partners
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm for quarterly accounting engagement
  • Support investment team and planning team through ad hoc analysis of investmentholdings, tax profile and liquidity
  • Prepare financial statements and footnotes for one investment Fund; assist with annualaudit
  • Review federal and state tax workpapers, partners’ K-1s, and returns prepared by external CPA firm for accuracy and consistency
  • Prepare quarterly tax forecast on fund level and allocation on individual partner level
  • Track book and tax difference for each investment on a quarterly basis
  • Analyze appropriate tax disclosure for partners, applying family attribution rules.
  • Identify, research, and resolve tax and accounting technical and reporting issues

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of investment accounting, auditing and investment partnership tax compliance
  • Experience with complex investment structures, including carried interest arrangementsand multi-level holdings
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including utilizing complex formulas(Excel) to manage large amounts of data
  • Strong team-building, management and collaboration skills; enjoys working as a part ofteam to provide the highest quality of service
  • Strong interpersonal skills evidenced in both oral and written communications for all levels
  • High degree of initiative, ability to think independently and follow instructions; understands work rules in a complex, demanding and fast-paced work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in tax/accounting from a four-year college or university
  • At least three years related tax/accounting experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA strongly preferred, but not required
